Why this checklist exists

Most insurance delays at closing happen because the agent gets a buyer's name and a closing date — and nothing else. This checklist fixes that. Send it once with every referral and your buyer gets an accurate quote on the first call.

What to gather before you send the referral

  • Buyer's full name, best phone, and email
  • Property address, purchase price, and estimated closing date
  • Whether it is a primary residence or investment property
  • Lender name and the loan officer's name and contact info
  • Year built, square footage, roof age, and construction type (if known)
  • Flood zone, prior claims, and any updates to wind mitigation or electrical/plumbing
  • Copy-and-paste introduction

"Hi Sarah, I'd like to introduce you to Matt at Tibbetts Insurance Services. Sarah is purchasing a home in Baton Rouge and is looking for homeowners insurance options. Matt, Sarah's closing is scheduled for July 15. I'll let you two connect from here."

    What happens next

  • Buyer contacted promptly
  • Insurance options reviewed
  • Questions answered
  • Lender requirements coordinated
  • Updates provided throughout the process
  • Closing documents delivered on time
  • Download the printable PDF above and keep it with your buyer intake materials.
